Poland’s cinema market has strong growth potential

Over the last 20 years, the Polish cinema market has maintained strong growth momentum with an average 8.7% y/y increase in ticket sales in 2017 and cinema attendance hitting 56.6 million. Today, there are more than 1,300 screens in nearly 500 cinemas across the country. Multiplexes with two or more screens make up only approximately 25% of all cinemas in Poland but account for 75% of all screens. Most of them (80%) are located in shopping centres. Despite its rapid expansion, this market still has a big growth potential considering saturation levels in Poland and Western Europe.

New leases

  • The gastronomic offer of the BIG Łubna retail park near Warsaw has expanded with the Sphinx restaurant. The premises, with an area of ​​almost 400 sqm, were opened in October.
  • Interpneu Polska, a distributor of tyres and rims has renewed its lease for approximately 6,000 sqm of space in the MLP Poznań logistics centre. Of this, approximately 5,700 sqm is designated for warehouse use, while around 225 sqm is allocated for office and social areas.
  • Agfa-Gevaert Group has extended its lease of office space in Oxygen Park. The company signed its first lease in the Warsaw complex in 2014. Under the new agreement, it will stay in Oxygen Park for the next six years. The headquarters of the Polish branch of Agfa covers 1,160 sqm. of office space and is located on the 3rd floor of Building B.

New appointments

  • Agnieszka Słomka-Gołębiowska has resigned from her position as a member of the Supervisory Board and chair of the Audit Committee of Ghelamco Invest. The position of member of Ghelamco's Supervisory Board will be filled by Lidia Jabłonowska-Luby. An existing member of the Audit Committee, Jarosław Myjak, was also appointed to act as chairman of the Audit Committee.
  • MLP Group is from now on working with a smaller board of directors. Monika Dobosz has resigned from her position. She had served on the company's board since July 2022, when she was appointed to the board together with Agnieszka Góźdź.
  • After almost eight years at the helm of Savills IM's Polish office, Piotr Trzcinski is leaving the firm. He joined Savills IM in 2017.
