Mircea Fechet graduated from the Faculty of Food Science and Engineering at the Dunărea de Jos University, Galati (2004) and the Faculty of Law and Administrative Sciences at "George Bacovia" University, Bacău (2015). He was appointed secretary of state at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests in November 2019 and from February 2020 he was Romania's representative at the European Environment Agency. He was first Minister of Environment, Water and Forests between November 5, 2020 and December 23, 2020. He was appointed Minister for the second time on June 15, 2023.
