Poland's retail parks perform well post-lockdown

According to data from the Polish Council of Shopping Centers, footfall in shopping malls range from 62 to 73% when compared to last year’s numbers. The pandemic has changed the habits of Poles who are planning their shopping in a more thoughtful, cautious and safe way. In the new reality, small-format shops located close to home are attracting more visitors. By the end of May and after negotiations between owners and tenants had been completed, almost all shops in retail parks were operating. Some of these shops are now recording a turnover of 160% of pre-lockdown levels.

This is the second brand that belongs to the Pelion Group, the largest healthcare company in Poland, which operates in the 7R Park Łódź West I. The storage area for Medezin was designed in the BTS formula and was adapted to the specific needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

Poland’s H1 2020 investment volume reaches €3 billion

According to Savills, commercial property investment activity hit €2.92 billion across Poland in H1 2020, up by almost 5% on the same period in 2019. Despite COVID-19 challenges, it was the second-best result in the first half of a year on record. Savills anticipates that the pandemic’s impact will be noticeable in H2 2020, but the investment volume is unlikely to fall by more than 20% compared to last year’s all-time high.

7R hands over passive building near Kraków

BWI Group, a global automotive suspension parts design and manufacturing company, has moved into a unique passive building in Europe. The group's research and development centre will begin operations in Balice near Kraków, where advanced technologies will be developed to increase the functionality of shock absorbers. The developer, 7R, has prepared an energy self-sufficient facility for the company, using an advanced trigeneration system. The building will obtain a BREEAM Very Good certificate.

ELI rents out 45,000 sqm in new facility in Silesia

European Logistics Investment (ELI) together with its strategic partner Panattoni is to lease more warehouse space. At the facility Panattoni Park Ruda Śląska II almost 57,000 square meters will be delivered for use, of which nearly 45,000 square meters have been leased out to the tenants Dywidag and LATEX Opony Inc.

New leases

  • Promatic, a company that creates technological solutions, has signed a long-term lease for office space in Warsaw's Wola Center. The company will occupy 1,200 sqm on the sixth floor of the building.
  • FroGum, a distributor of car accessories has joined the group of tenants at the MLP Pruszków II logistics center near Warsaw. The company has leased 10,000 square meters of warehouse space. The transaction was advised by the Knight Frank agency.
  • HB Reavis Poland has signed a lease agreement with Alior Bank SA for 8,300 sqm of office space at Varso Place (Warsaw). The bank will move into Varso Place later in 2025. CMS Poland advised the building owner during the negotiation process.

New appointments

  • Maciej Müldner has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of MLP Group. An experienced executive, he has spent nearly 20 years contributing to the development of the Skanska Group in Central Europe.
  • Panattoni Income Fund has appointed Olaf Bruns as Managing Director Business Development DACH. Earlier this year, the fund’s team was also strengthened by Piotr Boruc, who took on the role of Head of Finance and Reporting.
  • CBRE has named Hristo Karakostov as Head of Advisory & Transactions Office Services Department for Bulgaria, within its Southeast Europe (SEE) office. He succeeds Monika Gajewska, who will continue to lead the Occupier Business Development efforts for the SEE.
