CMS Poland hires 10 lawyers for real estate practice

International law firm CMS has bolstered its real estate and construction practice with the addition of a team of 10 lawyers in Poland. CMS will be joined by three respected partners, each with many years of experience and an established market reputation: Agata Jurek-Zbrojska, Małgorzata Madej-Balcerowska, and Dominik Rafałko. Agata Jurek-Zbrojska will head CMS’s real estate and construction practice in Poland, which she will manage in close co-operation with partners Lidia Dziurzyńska-Leipert – who leads international development for CEE Real Estate, Michał Mieciński, Małgorzata Madej-Balcerowska, and Dominik Rafałko.

New investors target CEE’s hotel market

The CEE hotel sector continues to boom, with investment levels expected to exceed €800 million by the end of 2018. This marks a slight decline compared to last year’s volumes. The primary reason for that is the lack of prime assets and portfolios on the market that could satisfy investors’ongoing appetite for hotels in key CEE cities. Institutional and listed investors are becoming more dominant, accounting for 74% of total transaction volume in 2017 and 54% in the first three quarters of 2018. The changing consumer trends and evolution of accommodation concepts over the recent years have resulted in a blurring of lines between traditional hotel classes. These are the findings of the first edition of the joint Cushman & Wakefield – CMS report on the hotel Investment scene in CEE and its underlying investment trends.

Q1 2017: strong start for CEE investment markets

2016’s record-breaking €12.2 billion investment in the real estate sector in the CEE region is likely to be surpassed in 2017 – this is according to CEE Real Estate Investment Compass 2017 published by Colliers International and CMS. The sources of investment flows into the CEE region are also expected to remain diverse in 2017, with Asian and CEE investors becoming increasingly active in the real estate market.

New leases

  • The Unisono chain has joined the ranks of tenants at Designer Outlet Sosnowiec (southern Poland). The women's clothing brand will occupy 115 sq m of space in the facility.
  • Borg Automotive Group will move into new premises at HI Piotrkowska office building in Łódź in February 2025. It will occupy approximately 300 sqm. Brookfield Partners supported the tenant in the negotiation process.
  • TK Maxx shop will be opened at Ferio Konin (central Poland). The brand will occupy 2,000 sqm of space in the extended part of the shopping centre.

New appointments

  • Agnieszka Słomka-Gołębiowska has resigned from her position as a member of the Supervisory Board and chair of the Audit Committee of Ghelamco Invest. The position of member of Ghelamco's Supervisory Board will be filled by Lidia Jabłonowska-Luby. An existing member of the Audit Committee, Jarosław Myjak, was also appointed to act as chairman of the Audit Committee.
  • MLP Group is from now on working with a smaller board of directors. Monika Dobosz has resigned from her position. She had served on the company's board since July 2022, when she was appointed to the board together with Agnieszka Góźdź.
  • After almost eight years at the helm of Savills IM's Polish office, Piotr Trzcinski is leaving the firm. He joined Savills IM in 2017.
