South African fund plans to invest in Romexpo project

South African investment fund RMH plans to invest €200 million in the mixed-use real estate project planned around the Romexpo exhibition centre in Bucharest by Romanian businessman Iulian Dascalu and Atterbury Bucharest, the local subsidiary of South African investor Atterbury Europe (which is 37.5% owned by RMH). RMH will own a quarter of the project, according to Profit.ro.

MPC and Atterbury launch €110 million Belgrade retail project

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić and CEO of MPC Properties Ingo Nissen have officially laid down a foundation stone at the construction site of a new shopping centre in Belgrade with over 43,000 sqm of sales space and a total built area of 130,000 sqm. The project is a joint venture of MPC Properties, the largest investor in the region of South-East Europe and Atterbury Europe, focused on shopping centre investments and retail development opportunities in Europe, which will collectively invest more than €110 million in this project.

Iulius starts construction of Romania’s tallest office building

The Iulius Company commences the construction works for the fourth office building of the total six to be included in the Openville Timişoara mixed-use development. Spanning on a 155 m height and 27 floors, United Business Center 0 (UBC 0) will be the tallest office building in Romania. The Openville project is currently under construction in the proximity of Iulius Mall Timişoara and, owing to the 130,000 sqm of office premises it will create, it hopes to become the main business hub in the west of Romania.

New leases

  • Hillwood Polska has relocated its office to Warsaw's Plac Małachowskiego office building. The company will occupy space on the fifth floor of the building.
  • Primark is opening its seventh shop in Poland. Another outlet of the chain will be opened in the Zielone Arkady shopping centre in Bydgoszcz. The store will occupy a total retail space of 3,200 sqm on two floors.
  • GTC in collaboration with The Shire Beyond Coworking, is isopening a new coworking space in Korona Office Complex in Kraków.

New appointments

  • Bartłomiej Polnik has joined Savills as Associate Director, Senior Project & Development Manager PRS & Living Sectors in the PBC department.
  • Stage Capital has announced the appointment of Jacek Kołodziejski as Country Director in Poland. His role is to manage Stage Capital's retail property portfolio in Poland and to guide the growth of its value through expansion of existing facilities and acquisitions with growth potential.
  • Tomasz Waligórski will take over as General Manager of the Carrefour chain in Poland from 1 November. In this function, he will replace the previous, long-standing director of the Polish branch, Tareck Ouaibi.
