After many attempts, approval and subsequent rejection, the new Construction Code has finally been approved in Slovakia, reports YIMBA.sk. It is supposed to be one of the important tools contributing to the economic competitiveness of Slovakia by simplifying and speeding up construction procedures.

"The existing procedures and processes for assessing building plans in two-stage administrative proceedings are abandoned when in many cases the concerned authorities and participants in the proceedings expressed their views on the subject of the case in duplicate," the Ministry of Transport stated in the submission report. The new Construction Code also regulates procedures for illegal construction.

MPs of the NR SR rejected all opposition proposals, which, among other things, spoke of endangering the interests of the general and professional public. According to them, the approved changes to the construction legislation do not only concern the given law, but the law that supplements the construction law contains many amendments regulating, for example, the transaction tax or the tax bonus. The new construction law will be effective from April 1, 2025.
