by Property Forum | Retail

Nine shopping centre owners in Romania, together with CBRE, have urged the Romanian Government to reopen large shopping centres as soon as possible.

The open letter addressed to the Government, initiated by CBRE and signed by Arena City Center, Baneasa Development, Ceetrus Romania, CPI, Immofinanz Romania, Iulius Grup, NEPI Rockcastle, ParkLake Shopping Center and Veranda Asset Management, argues that countries with higher COVID-19 infection rates than Romania have already taken this step.

Under current law, only shopping centre not exceeding 15,000 sqm can operate. CBRE estimates that the ban affects 3.7 million sqm of commercial space in Romania.
