Sales of houses, land, and apartments in January were almost 40% higher than the same month last year, according to the Romanian National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (ANCPI).
48,736 properties were traded in the first month of the year, 13,505 more than in the same month last year. The figures show that the Romanians' appetite for properties is constantly growing, after December last year saw an increase of almost 30% compared to December 2019.
Most real estate sales were recorded in Bucharest - 7,635, Ilfov - 4,876, and Cluj - 2,889. On the other hand, the fewest properties sold are in Caraş Severin - 186, Covasna - 199, and Olt - 303. The number of mortgages, at a national level, in January 2021, was 19,601, with 2,664 lower than in January 2020.
The counties where the most agricultural lands were sold in the first month of 2021 are Ilfov - 1,019, Galați - 857, and Dolj - 478.
