To honour his substantial contribution to the industry over many years, this year RICS has created an annual prize in the name of Chris Bennett FRICS, to reward a significant display of professionalism by a successful RICS Candidate in the CEE region.

The award is given to a successful RICS applicant deemed to have made the most outstanding impression on an interviewing panel throughout the RICS business year (1 August - 31 July). Nominations are accepted from all countries of the CEE region. The nomination process is controlled by RICS CEE Country Manager Anna Orcsik and the determination of the merit-based award is managed by family friend John Verpeleti FRICS.

 

The first award was handed over to the successful candidate in Budapest on 24 November at the Portfolio Property Investment Forum.

RICS has long been the number one professional partner of Portfolio at its property conferences in Budapest, Vienna, Belgrade, Bucharest and London. At this year’s biggest professional event on the Budapest market Portfolio Property Awards were also given out to recognise the activity of several big players of the Hungarian property market.
 

Participants of the conference voted in two categories. Futureal’s Corvin Corner office building was declared Project of The Year, while Horizon Development’s Szervita Square renovation plan became Concept of The Year. The Transaction Deal of The Year was closed with the help of Eston International with Nokia Networks being the tenant and Futureal being the developer. The Deal of The Year was closed with the help of Cushman & Wakefield and JLL. A consortium including Wing and Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing has purchased a large portfolio including a shopping centre and three office buildings.
