The panorama of the historic centre of Olomouc is not changing yet. In recent days, the regional court has annulled the zoning decision for the planned construction of a skyscraper by Redstone, reports E15.cz.
The court made this decision after the Supreme Administrative Court upheld the complaint of the ombudsman, according to whom biased officials made decisions about the building. The residential building in Olomouc is to reach a height of 74 meters and offer ninety apartments. The developer wants to build it in the planned new three-hectare Šantovka District near the centre of Olomouc.
The high-rise building has long been rejected by heritage conservationists, who say it would damage the city's historical panorama. According to E15, the developer refused to comment on the news. For the company, this is a significant investment, apartments, offices, shops, restaurants and perhaps a multifunctional hall for organising concerts, theatre performances or conferences are to be built in the new quarter for CZK 3 billion (€120 million).
In addition to the Šantovka District, Redstone is also planning to build the Šantovka Living residential zone and the Nová Velkomoravská urban district in Olomouc.
