Passerinvest has been optimising the management and operation of its buildings, this time focusing on waste management. Since October last year, the company has introduced changes in the organisation of waste collection. This step aims to increase the efficiency of waste management, minimise the traffic burden and ensure accurate data for recording the total amount of waste.
Newly, all waste from 11 office and commercial buildings, including adjacent campuses and public spaces, is managed centrally. Collections are now provided by the company AVE CZ odpadové hospodárstvo. Waste is collected by vehicles with integrated scales for accurate recording of the amount from individual buildings. All waste, which is produced in Brumlovka centre at 53 tons per month, goes to recycling or a facility for its further energy use. No waste ends up in a landfill.
The centralisation of collection reduced the cost of waste collection for the entire location by 16% compared to the original situation, when waste was collected individually.
Brumlovka is thus ready for new legislation, which will allow only 10% of produced waste to be landfilled from 2035.
Already in the past, Passerinvest had an analysis of the contents of containers for mixed municipal waste carried out at one of the buildings. It turned out that roughly half of the waste could be further sorted and approximately 25% of the content is paper towels.
"I have to admit that these analyses are very beneficial for us. With the knowledge that we have up to a quarter of the capacity of the bins filled with paper towels, we can do something about it. In cooperation with the distributor of these hygiene products, we implemented a pilot program for their recycling using a special press meeting the parameters of a circular economy," explains Petr Bečán, Property Manager & ESG at Passerinvest Group.
