Romanian entrepreneur Ovidiu Budeanu has signed a franchise agreement with French hotel group Accor for the opening of a new 4-star Mercure Hotel in Bacău.

The hotel will feature 80 rooms and will be developed following an investment of around €7 million. The project will also include three conference rooms and a ballroom for events.

The new project will be located near the Arena Mall Bacău project with a leasable area of 24,600 sqm that will be extended by another 14,600 sqm following an investment of €30 million. The new development stage will also bring a new wing to the mall, a 200 apartments residential building, a parking lot/area and a big indoor & outdoor playground, alongside a cinema.

“By adding the Mercure hotel to our new development, we take one more step towards becoming an urban destination, a place to be. Given Bacău city's geo-strategic position, we are convinced that the new hotel will be the meeting point where the local, but also national and international businesspeople can organize their important meetings and corporate events.” stated Ovidiu Budeanu, developer and shareholder of Arena Mall Bacau.

Accor is operating a network of seven Mercure hotels in Romania and is planning to open three new hotels in the next two years.
