Linkcity has started the implementation of its first apartment building made of timber in the Czech Republic. The residence has become part of the last stage of the Nová Tesla urban district currently under construction, which is being built on a large former urban brownfield in Pardubice.
In the Czech Republic, timber construction is still in the initial stages, both in the metropolis and especially in the regions. On June 26, 2024, the Government of the Czech Republic approved the Raw Materials Policy for Wood, which, among other things, stipulates that at least 20% of public construction projects should be made of wood.
With the support of the parent company Bouygues Construction, Linkcity brings knowledge and experience from abroad to the local market. Wooden buildings can be realized faster thanks to prefabrication and the modular construction method. The massive CLT panels that Linkcity decided to use in this case are characterized by high strength, load-bearing capacity and fire resistance. This type of construction allows walls to be created with less thickness than traditional building materials, providing more usable area for residents. In addition, modular construction is of high quality, precise and fast. In New Tesla, where a total of 152 CLT panels will be used, this will shorten the construction schedule by almost six months compared to conventional methods. There will be 11 residential units for sale on three floors. The project also includes other commercial spaces and a new parking garage.
The new Linkcity project is being created with the support of the We Wood branch, which is part of the parent company Bouygues Construction. We Wood is made up of a team of thirty specialists focused on processing feasibility studies, adaptation of existing projects and development of own design solutions.
