Enel X Romania is implementing a photovoltaic (PV) system for retailer Kaufland Romania. The project is developed near the company’s logistics centre in Turda following an investment of €1 million.

The PV Park will have an installed capacity of 1 MWp and will generate annual electricity savings of around €112,000 for the retailer.

The energy project will feature over 2,000 solar panels spanning 9,400 sqm near Kaufland’s warehouses.

“In Romania we have over 200 sunny days per year on average, which means that green energy can be successfully used in each region,” says Valer Hancaș,Corporate Affairs&Communication Director at Kaufland.

Major retailers in Romania have started to invest in renewable energy in a bid to cut costs and meet sustainability goals.

Kaufland has already fitted PV panels on the roofs of two hypermarkets in Bucharest and Focșani. The retailer has a network of 143 stores across Romania.
