Romanian developer Iulius is closer to kick off the construction of a mixed-use project in Cluj-Napoca after relocating a manufacturing facility in another part of the city. The Carbochim plan was relocated and upgraded following an investment of €5 million.

Carbochim, part of Iulius Group, is the biggest maker of professional abrasives in Romania. The plant has 160 employees and Carbochim is looking to grow its business by around 20% in the next three years, following new investments of around €2 million.

Viorel Popoviciu, General Manager of Carbochim, said the relocation supported the optimization of production flows and the upgrade of equipment. In addition, the plant is fitted with photovoltaic panels that will generate yearly energy savings of 18%

Iulius is planning to develop a large mixed-use scheme on a large land plot that also hosted the Carbochim facility. The total investment will exceed half a billion euros.
