Construction works on the new bus station in the Nivy complex on Mlynské Nivy Street in Bratislava are in their final stages. Developer HB Reavis is already fine-tuning the details, testing lighting, technology and information systems. The terminal will be airport-style with 36 platforms, seven drop-off points and 86 bus stands with barrier-free access, the company informs in a press release.
Passengers will be able to access the bus station 24 hours a day, seven days a week once it opens. The station premises will be underground, on the first underground floor. Passengers can also go directly to shops, drugstores and fast food outlets on this floor.
HB Reavis is targeting the opening of the Nivy complex at Mlynské Nivy in Bratislava towards the end of the summer, more specifically towards the end of the third quarter of this year. The exact date has not yet been disclosed. The project is to be a combination of an international bus terminal, a shopping centre, a market hall and a high-rise office building. The green roof will offer a running track, exercise or picnic areas, a community garden and children's playgrounds.
Construction began in May 2017 with work on the Nivy Tower office building. Remediation work on the site of the old bus station began in October 2017 and was completed in January 2018. The function of the existing bus station is fulfilled by a replacement bus station on Bottova Street in Bratislava.
