DP World has opened three new logistics sites in Romania following combined investments of €86 million in a move designed to increase cargo flow capacity in the country.

In Constanța, the company invested €65 million in two new cargo terminals. At the same time, DP World opened in Aiud a new intermodal logistics hub following an investment of €21 million.

At the same time, the logistics manager aims to deliver next year a new multi-transport platform, which will be a €50 million investment.

Cosmin Cârstea, CEO of DP World Romania, said the new investments will boost cargo flows by around two million tonnes annually in Romania.

“We believe that with this investment, DP World in Constanța will significantly strengthen its position as one of the most important container and RO-RO hub in Central and Eastern Europe, securing most of the trade of the EU with Türkiye and Central Asia. To aid this, we also plan to open a centre of excellence for services in the Balkans, to facilitate trade for the countries around Romania,” added the CEO.

DP World has invested over €250 million in Romania since 2004, including grants from the European Union.
