Romanian DIY chain Dedeman has purchased a land plot of 14.5 ha in Timișoara from Țiriac Imobiliare for an undisclosed sum. The buyer is exploring several investment scenarios for the new land that is located next to the future Ikea store.
“Dumbrăvița area has been growing steadily for several years, and this trend will continue with the opening of the Ikea store and the expansion of residential developments,” said Sînziana Oprea, Director Land Agency at real estate consultancy Colliers Romania, which brokered the deal.
The acquisition has the potential to be a catalyst for significant new transactions in 2022, being an important benchmark for local market liquidity and contributing to increasing investor confidence, according to Colliers Romania representatives. They added that the war in Ukraine has a limited impact on Romania’s land market at present, but the escalation of the conflict could generate new challenges.
The agency’s consultants are said a trend to watch in 2022 is the opening of new submarkets that may interest investors, particularly influenced by infrastructure developments.
