The Realism development group has introduced the concept of so-called unlimited vacation and encourages all members of its team to use as many days off as possible. At the same time, it has adopted a new method of corporate education.
According to the Czech Labor Code, an employee is entitled to at least 160 hours of leave, corresponding to 4 weeks. Taking into account foreign trends and the loyalty of its employees, the Realism group decided to proceed with the introduction of unlimited vacation. According to the developer, this concept, which allows people to organise their work and private lives better, has brought satisfaction, productivity, and development of employees. So far, only a few companies in the country have joined this system - mostly in IT, insurance, and digitisation.
"Freedom gives people a strong sense of responsibility and awareness that each of us has our life and our results primarily in our own hands, but at the same time without teamwork we cannot achieve anything. It also leads to greater efficiency, because work done well and efficiently means more free time. We had no worries that the unlimited vacation system wouldn't work for us, and the last two years have far exceeded our expectations," says the owner of the Realism group, Martin Hubinger.
According to Martin Hubinger, working hours are determined by the need, not by the exact time of arrival and departure. His employees have the opportunity to choose the time of work and the place of work. The benefit becomes valid after the three-month trial period. Of course, there are certain rules attached to it, as the owner of the Realism group explains: "Everyone must subordinate their choice to the fact that it does not harm the performance of their tasks and also that it does not negatively affect the running of the team and the company. However, all colleagues are intelligent adults and I can't imagine that anyone else should evaluate whether their work is in a state where they can take time off, or when it would harm the projects. Everyone knows this best for themselves, and therefore everyone decides for themselves."
Another employee benefit is a modern concept of company education. In addition to the onboarding course, employees have the opportunity to attend individual training programs. There are basically no rules for choosing a course or other forms of education or personal development, the number of attended training sessions per year, as well as specific financial restrictions. The only principle that applies is that the chosen form of education must not endanger the functioning of the team, nor significantly limit work performance.
"The principle is simple. You choose the course, pay for it, and after completing it, you then present to your manager what you learned from it, and what it brought to you and the whole team. The supervisor then assesses whether the company will cover the costs. The core idea of this approach is that each of us responsibly chooses the education we want to complete, even with the knowledge of the risk that the company will not pay for it," explains Martin Hubinger.
The Realism development group is active in land development and project management, building construction, real estate investment and asset management. The Realism group has executed the projects Barrandovská Garden, Truhlárna, Milhouse, Sakura and Bleriot. By selling projects in various stages of development, it completed, for example, the Barrandez-vous project and several other large-scale residential projects in Prague.
