AEW has announced the BREEAM New Construction ‘Outstanding’ award with a score of 88.1% for its recently completed 36,400 sqm brownfield logistics development, “the Platform” in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
This recognition has been obtained for the standards of construction applied for this asset. Over 87% of waste was diverted from landfills during construction, and a smart metering system was installed to monitor and reduce energy use (PV plant, LED lighting for both indoor and outdoor areas, automated free cooling at night triggered by the Building Management System and EV charging). The scheme has also been designed to support low water consumption including rainwater flushing and leak detection systems. The Platform offers a canteen, internal gym and landscaped outside spaces, and supports biodiversity with dedicated green areas for birds and insects.
The Platform, which was developed in partnership with Panattoni, forms part of AEW’s pan-European logistics strategy and has been fully let to Shape, a manufacturing company. Situated in West-Pilsen, the asset is located in the established logistics markets in the Czech Republic, with direct access to the D5 motorway which provides links to Pilsen city centre to the east and Germany to the west.
Ludovic Bernini, Fund Manager at AEW, commented: “ The Platform’s sustainability credentials were a key factor in drawing strong occupier interest, which resulted in us signing a 15-year lease with Shape.”
