Delivered to you by USGBC Vice President of Communities, Vatsal Bhat, the training is created by the U.S. Green Building Council and comes with 8 CE hours and badges, Rating System Pro and Certification Process Pro. The event is made possible with the support of Colliers Poland and Property Forum, and in cooperation with the Polish Green Building Council.

LEED for Cities and Communities helps projects credibly track progress toward overall sustainability objectives and allows for comparison with others around the world. LEED for Cities and Communities helps local leaders and the private sector to: 

  • Benchmark performance against national and global standards 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to net-zero energy, water and waste as well as carbon neutrality • Operationalize outcomes-oriented policies and strategies centred on sustainability, resilience and social equity 
  • Develop a culture of data-driven decision-making, transparency and leadership 
  • Improve the standard of living and quality of life in cities and communities 

Globally recognized certification process pros for LEED for Cities and Communities are needed to meet USBGC’s goal of transforming all cities and communities to be planned and performing at the highest levels of sustainability and equity. Such experts are also expected to move these communities to net-zero energy, water, waste or carbon neutrality and beyond. Project teams need to understand various data and documentation needs of every credit and prerequisite. Additionally, they need to understand best practices and nuances of the certification process and follow it to offer a seamless certification process for their clients. Learn from USGBC staff who helped develop this rating system and are now helping more than 250 LEED for Cities and Communities projects certify. With this course and badges, you’re on your way to impacting and improving the planning and performance of your city or community. 

About the training

This training is divided into two separate learning modules. 

  • LEED for Cities and Communities Training Module 1: Rating System Pro: Participants will get to know all credit categories and requirements with examples. Learn from USGBC staff and experts with the knowledge of certifying projects to this rating system. 
  • LEED for Cities and Communities Training Module 2: Certification Process Pro: Learn about the certification process, best practices and nuances of the data and documentation collection and working with Arc from USGBC staff and industry experts.

Module 1

  • Benchmark and recognize progressive sustainability strategies, policies and projects by certifying to LEED for Cities and Communities rating system (LfC) 
  • Integrate advanced sustainability strategies from LfC into sustainability planning and implementation • Explain the purpose, intent, and requirements of key prerequisites and credits in LfC and the benefits of implementation 
  • Understand the requirements and the processes for precertification and certification and the tools and resources available to projects pursuing LfC 

Module 2

  • Establish confidence in participants’ ability to pursue LFC certification for their project • Understand various processes and steps towards achieving the certification 
  • Familiarize with key concepts, data sources, calculations and narratives 
  • Learn the value of using Arc for continuous performance measurement and global benchmarking

What you get

This course is created by the U.S. Green Building Council and is approved for LEED credential maintenance for LEED Accredited Professionals and LEED AP ND. 

  • Finish this in-person 8-hour training of two modules of four hours each and two respective online quizzes. • Receive two badges: (1) the Rating System Pro, and (2) the Certification Process Pro • Qualify for 8 continuing education credits 
  • Receive a “LEED for Cities and Communities Pro Training Certificate” signed by USGBC president and CEO  Peter Templeton 
  • With this Pro Certificate and a LEED AP credential, become eligible to apply for 1 Innovation point on any  upcoming or ongoing LEED for Cities and Communities project certification
